Fran Tarkenton, Hall of Fame NFL star, had a blunt assessment to make of his fellow athletes and their treatment of the incoming president of the United States.
In an interview with TMZ Sports, Tarkenton made clear his disgust with sports figures on one team in particular for taking their politics to the field – and for possessing insane political stances in the first place.
So what did the former Minnesota Viking quarterback say?
He called sports greats like Cleveland Cavaliers guard Iman Shumpert “stupid” and “disrespectful” for refusing to visit the White House, as invited by President-elect Donald Trump’s team.
But here’s Tarkenton’s partial statement, as picked up and noted by Breitbart: “You know, if they don’t want to go there, so what? That’s disrespectful, is it not? I mean, you put politics – if a president of the United States, our number one guy, invites you to the [White House] and you’re going to boycott it, because why? It’s stupid.”
And don’t forget, as Tarkenton noted: Nobody did that to Obama because of the color of his skin.
“Nobody boycotted Obama because he’s black, did they? They all went there because he was our president and you respect our president no matter whether you’re for him or not,” he said, Breitbart reported.
Good points. But in the mind of the left, resisting all attempts to accept Trump as America’s president is the right thing to do – no matter how ridiculous and petty. Watch his full comments below:
