President Donald Trump has been on the receiving end of more than his fair share of criticism, but that comes with the territory when you hold the highest office in the land.
By extension, the president’s family has received plenty of criticism as well. While we’ll firmly contend that it’s incredibly bad form to target a person’s family just because you don’t agree with his politics, we’ll add the caveat that it also comes with the territory for public faces.
However, we will draw a firm line in the sand that should never be crossed. Barron Trump is a child, and he should be completely off-limits to those that feel the need to make political points at the expense of Trump’s family.
The Independent Journal Review has the details on a disturbing piece that was making the rounds yesterday.
The Daily Caller, a conservative website, invited the wrath of the internet after the publication of a stunning article targeting President Donald Trump’s 11-year-old son, Barron, on Monday.
The headline of the article reads, “It’s High Time Barron Trump Starts Dressing Like He’s In the White House.”
The Daily Caller is a fine site. That being said, there were numerous other topics that deserved attention yesterday.
The wardrobe choices of a child was not one of them.
The post, authored by the site’s entertainment reporter, Ford Springer, goes on to criticize Trump’s young son for dressing like the 11-year-old child that he is:
“[Barron’s] dad is always looking dapper and his mom has become a worldwide fashion icon since becoming first lady. The youngest Trump doesn’t have any responsibilities as the president’s son, but the least he could do is dress the part when he steps out in public.”
Really? How about letting a child that has had his entire world flipped upside down be a kid? Is that too much to ask?
Barron Trump did not sign up to be the president’s kid. He’s going along with the flow, and we’ll err to the side that says his parents know what’s best for him.
As the author of the piece notes, his parents always hit the right fashion notes. If they saw anything wrong with what Barron was wearing, do you really think they wouldn’t address it?
We’ll assume that his parents have instilled plenty of fashion sense into the young man, and also note that his t-shirts quickly become best sellers whenever new photos make the rounds.
Thankfully, we saw plenty of signs that there’s still a lot of hope for society, as scores of users jumped in to defend Barron.
It's high time the media & everyone leave Barron Trump alone & let him have the private childhood he deserves https://t.co/Wxq51TvgDX

Chelsea Clinton knows a thing or two about growing up in the public eye, and while she won’t get much agreement from this publication, she deserves a ton of praise for using her platform to speak out to defend Barron.
It’s unbelievably bad form to ridicule or call out a child, and it’s downright stunning that it would even be a questionable decision on the part of some folks.
