Can you imagine what would happen if Donald Trump’s campaign manager insulted Latinos and other minorities behind their backs while shilling for their votes? Yet when Hillary Clinton’s team actually does this, the media ignores it altogether.
One of the most embarrassing of the many emails hacked from campaign chair John Podesta’s server concerns efforts to lock up the support of certain prominent Democrats.
Elizabeth Harrington reports for the Washington Free Beacon:
Hillary Clinton’s campaign chairman John Podesta lamented that the campaign needed endorsements from “needy Latinos” and called a former Hispanic governor “a dick,” according to newly released hacked emails. (…)
“A few calls you might consider making,” Podesta wrote to Clinton in an email with the subject line “Needy Latinos and 1 easy call.”
The first suggestion was to call Federico Peña, the first Hispanic mayor of Denver, Colorado, who later served as secretary of transportation and secretary of energy under President Bill Clinton.
Pena, the “needy Latino,” apparently felt snubbed by “Clinton World” after no one “reached out to him” after his “messy divorce,” one supposedly brought about by his workaholism during his stint in Clinton’s cabinet.
Podesta also recommended that Clinton call former New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson for an endorsement. Podesta thought Richardson could be valuable even though “he can be a dick” because he is “still on TV a lot.”
Podesta probably though he had mended some fences, but now that these emails are public, it’s possible that some alliances he thought he’d forged won’t hold any longer.
