There are three competing opinions among supporters of Trump and Clintons, along with the various pundits.
- First, we may be looking at an extremely tight race, but one that could lean one way or another in just a handful of states that proves to be a decisive electoral victory.
- Second, the media is touting a blowout Hillary victory based on their polls. Even Clinton supporters are extremely skeptical of this.
- Third, and finally, Trump supporters believe a groundswell of enthusiasm is going to prove all the polls wrong and give Trump a commanding victory.
All we know for sure right now is the polls, and what better to look at than the poll that was closer than any other in 2012 to predicting the winner?
Well the final numbers from IBD are in, and they are reporting something different than most of the other polls out there:
With one day to go, Donald Trump extended his lead over Hillary Clinton, 43% to 41%, according to the latest IBD/TIPP presidential tracking poll. That comes after a third bombshell from FBI Director James Comey, who announced Sunday he would not indict Clinton for her email scandal.
Trump’s two-point lead now matches his largest so far during the 20 days of polling.
Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson gets 6% of the vote, Green Party candidate Jill Stein just 2%.
So we’re looking at option 1 or option 3, but option 2 (a Hillary landslide) is highly unlikely, at least when it comes to the popular vote. Initial reports in crucial swing states like Florida are positive for Trump, but we will not know anything for sure until the results come rolling in on Election Day. There is literally one thing left to do—get out the vote!
