It has only only been a few days since the FBI’s terrible decision not to recommend an indictment against Hillary Clinton, but the dangerous consequences are already becoming clear.
I am sure that James Comey never stopped to consider how his decision to throw his friends the Clintons a bone would imperil national security for years to come, but there is little doubt left that he made America less safe and the price will be paid for years to come!
When FBI Director James Comey openly exposed the criminal negligence of Hillary Clinton but did not push for charges, he set a precedent to every person who breaks similar rules.
Hillary was not the first official in a position of leadership to mishandle and expose classified information. She certainly won’t be the last. But because of Comey’s disgustingly stupid decision, more individuals will be empowered to be reckless and irresponsible.
Our legal and justice systems operate under a system of precedence. How one case goes sets a standard for all future cases. It’s very rare that a judge or law enforcement agent will buck a trend that has been set, especially over a big case by an important figure, like the director the FBI. Now that Comey’s set the trend to ignore excessively negligent handling of classified emails, more in government mind do the same. That will significantly jeopardize the national secure of our nations for years to come.
From McClatchy DC:
The FBI recommendation not to prosecute Hillary Clinton and her staff on charges of mishandling classified information will give those accused of flouting national security rules a new line of defense even as it highlights a dual standard in how senior government officials are treated, several experts said Wednesday.
Lawyers who specialize in representing government and military officials who’ve had security clearances revoked said Comey’s recommendation offered them a new tactic in seeking to rehabilitate their clients, especially if Clinton is elected president in November.
“I intend to use the Hillary defense,” said Sean M. Bigley, a lawyer whose firm handles dozens of cases a year involving national security clearances. “I really question how any agency can say someone is a security risk if the president of the United States did something similar.”
“The Hillary Defense.” If that doesn’t make your blood run cold, nothing will. We saw how the misconduct of Bill Clinton affected the way elected officials behaved. Since his sex scandal in the late 90’s, sexual deviance on the part of leaders has skyrocketed. It’s become common place to hear on the news about a governor, mayor, or congressmen caught in some lurid affair. And it’s even more common to hear these individuals suffer no penalties. All thanks to Bill.
This issue with Hillary’s emails is far worse, as it affects how classified documents are treated. Government officials are meant to be held by a high standard. They are given certain responsibilities because they are believed to be trust worth and responsible. Hillary’s private email server is proof she is neither trustworthy nor responsible. But if she can get away with it, many others can as well.
Do you see how Hillary’s–and by extension the Washington Establishment’s–behavior has damaged our government? She is continually lowering the bar for our leaders. Should she continue in public service–as president or anything else–she will undermine every value we stand for.
