Apparently some people still watch CNN, even when they aren’t stuck in the airport. Even more surprisingly, this next story sees one giant media outlet tattling on another, and what’s being revealed can only help Donald Trump’s campaign.
By now everyone is sick of hearing about how “Trump urged gun rights activists to assassinate Hillary” — another example of the media (and the left in general) turning everything the candidate says into a new “controversy.” As part of the media pile on, CNN reported that the Secret Service took Trump’s “threat” so seriously that they paid him a visit.
Now Breitbart reveals what really happened:
The Reuters news service has poured cold water on CNN’s overheated claim that the Secret Service warned Donald Trump’s campaign that his gun rights rhetoric seemed to threaten the safety of Hillary Clinton.
Trump and his campaign had denied CNN’s claim of Secret Service concern. And Reuters confirmed CNN’s claim was false.
Reuters reported that “a federal official on Wednesday said the U.S. Secret Service had not formally spoken with Republican Donald Trump’s presidential campaign regarding his suggestion a day earlier that gun rights activists could stop Democratic rival Hillary Clinton from curtailing their access to firearms.”
It is doubtful that CNN will issue a correction to this blatantly false story, and even if it does, it won’t get the same level of attention as the initial report. Once again it will be up to the Trump camp to try to get the facts out there. Remember when that was the media’s job?
