American war vets deserve every bit of respect we can show them. They have protected us by risking their own lives and limbs, in war zones, dating back for centuries but that is something a large segment of America is oblivious to.
Protesting man’s inhumanity to man is every person’s right and veterans would stand and fight for the right and the freedom to do so but protesting the very symbol of the nation whose men have fought and died for those rights, more than any other nation in modern history, is intolerable to many of our military heroes.
When liberal college students decided to show their contempt for the US flag, they got a response they weren’t counting on.
From the Independent Journal Review:
After a group of students at Hampshire College successfully got the American flag removed from campus, roughly 1,000 military veterans gathered in Amherst, MA, on Sunday to teach them a lesson with a patriotic protest.
They brought plenty of flags to campus, too.
The veterans said they want the students to know the freedom they enjoy, the same freedom that allows them to disrespect the flag, isn’t free.
“They took down my flag, they have a right to that, I’m here to defend their right to do that but I want them to understand how bad that hurts me,” veteran Jerry Maguire told WWLP-TV.
David Soucy, a wounded Iraq War veteran, told the news station “there’s no way I’ll let anyone take down the flag, no way.”
“It means a lot to me and my brothers,” he added.
There was apparently some sort of an incident during the pro-America protest when a man sat in the middle of the veteran protesters and made obscene gestures as they tried to take a photo. It was unclear if the man was a student. Otherwise, the protest was entirely peaceful.
It’s sad that these students have no appreciation for the country that provided them with all of the advantages and freedoms they have enjoyed for so long.
Those blessings will not remain for long, if these students continue on the path they have chosen and, eventually, freedom and prosperity will be something that used to exist a long time ago!
We are lucky to have such men as those military veterans and those students had darn well better figure that out….fast!
