When House Speaker Paul Ryan drew the battle lines when he introduced the his healthcare bill last month.
Conflict in Congress over the bill exploded because Americans were fearful. Why? Because Ryan’s plan was way too similar to Obamacare.
Ryan’s plan kept some Obamacare taxes in place. And it got worse from there. It also increased the Medicare expansion and started a new entitlement program.
But the House Freedom Caucus refused to back down. When they stood firm, Ryan’s bill failed to pass.
President Trump refused to see this as a setback. He continued to display the negotiating skills that won him the White House.
The 30 staunch conservatives of the House Freedom Caucus have reviewed a revised healthcare bill. In a stunning turn of events, they are preparing to vote yes on it.
From The Hill:
The group said it sees the new amendment, brokered by Freedom Caucus Chairman Mark Meadows (R-N.C.) and centrist Rep. Tom MacArthur (R-N.J.), as the best option short of fully repealing the 2010 law.
“While the revised version still does not fully repeal Obamacare, we are prepared to support it to keep our promise to the American people to lower healthcare costs,” the Freedom Caucus said in a statement.
“We look forward to working with our Senate colleagues to improve the bill. Our work will continue until we fully repeal Obamacare.”
It’s encouraging to see progress on fixing Obamacare. One can’t help but think that all of this grief could have been avoided.
If only Obamacare had never passed! If only Justice Roberts had voted to strike it down! If only conservatives had held to their principles and held the gates.
Obamacare is a Ponzi scheme. It is much worse than any entitlement program America has seen.
Countries with socialized medicine see their people die waiting in line for medical care. Our own VA is horrifying example of this as well.
Yet the Democrats forced this ridiculous program down American’s throat anyway. They didn’t even earn a single Republican vote.
But as soon as next week, we can demolish the government system. Americans will have control of their health care again.
Free markets will play a crucial role in the healthcare marketplace, leading to lower prices and improved services. Contrary to socialist belief, competition breeds excellence.
With a return to capitalism, America will win again.
