Last Friday Republican Senators scored a victory for President Trump. They voted to pass their version of the tax cut bill. Now with both the House and Senate succeeding, it is only a matter of time before it becomes law.
The tax reform bill will bring reliefs to millions of hard-working Americans. It is a historic tax cut, one we haven’t seen in our lifetime.
One of the most significant aspects of the bill few people are talking about. A repeal to one of the most hated rules passed in the Obama era.
It is sure to mean the end of Obamacare for good.
From The Hill:
Senate Republicans have approved the repeal of ObamaCare’s individual mandate as part of their tax-cut bill, a major step toward ending an unpopular part of the health-care law.
“Families ought to be able to make decisions about what they want to buy and what works for them — not the government,” Sen. John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) said, hailing the accomplishment.
“I believe if people don’t want to buy the ObamaCare insurance, they shouldn’t have to pay a tax penalty to the IRS.”
The Senate tax bill must still be reconciled with House legislation that does not include the mandate’s repeal. But that is unlikely to be a major issue, given support in the GOP conference for repealing the mandate…
It’s unclear what repeal of the mandate will mean for ObamaCare.
Many experts and health-care groups warn that repeal will destabilize ObamaCare markets, leading to premium increases or insurers simply dropping out of certain areas. Without a financial penalty under the mandate for lacking health coverage, there is less incentive for healthy people to sign up and balance out the costs of the sick.
The insane mandate under Obamacare was one of its worst features. We were punished by the IRS for not buying health insurance. Wasn’t Obamacare supposed to provide health insurance to people who couldn’t afford it? Yet the law punished those people—who couldn’t get coverage in the first place!
The mandate was the only thing holding Obamacare together. It forced people to buy health insurance, maintaining the toxic Obamacare market. Not to mention the rest of the terrible law’s rules and demands.
But with the mandate gone, Obamacare will fall apart on its own. The mandate was like flimsy tape holding the shards in place. With it gone, Obamacare will rapidly collapse. Even without a full repeal, it has lost all its power.
That’s one of Trump’s biggest wins to date!
