In the wake of the terrible ISIS attacks in Paris, many were outraged when Obama encouraged Syrian refugees to come to the United States.
Governors across the country openly refused to let refugees into their states. One Tennessee GOP lawmaker is taking it a step further.
As reported by the Tennessean:
A top Tennessee Republican lawmaker believes the time has come for the National Guard to round up any Syrian refugees who have recently settled in the state and to stop any additional Syrian refugees from entering Tennessee.
“We need to activate the Tennessee National Guard and stop them from coming in to the state by whatever means we can,” said House GOP Caucus Chairman Glen Casada, R-Franklin, referencing refugees.
A call for the National Guard may sound drastic, but in light of recent terrorist attacks, including the despicable ISIS-inspired attack in San Bernardino, drastic measures are necessary.
When the President refuses to take significant action on the matter, perhaps not wanting to burden his last year in office, the rest of the country’s leaders need to do something.
Casada went on to say:
“Tennessee is a sovereign state. If the federal government is forsaking the obligation to protect our citizens, we need to act,” Casada said during a phone interview with The Tennessean on Tuesday.
Perhaps more of our state and local leaders will follow Casada’s lead and help eliminate this real and present danger. If Obama and his Washington elite can’t follow suit, his legacy as one of the least-effective presidents will be permanently sealed.
