You may have seen the extensive coverage of the death of Harambe the gorilla. You may have been bombarded by pointless and stupid social media messages protesting this “egregious” act, even though it saved the life of a child.
It would seem our society and mainstream media, value the life of an animal over the life of a young, black boy, judging from the reaction. But it also appears they don’t care much about the lives of people overseas, namely Christians who are being killed on a regular basis by ISIS.
A new study by the indefatigable Media Research Center (MRC) has revealed that mainstream media devoted some six times as much air time to covering the recent death of Harambe the gorilla than they did to the gruesome Islamic State decapitation of 21 Coptic Christians on a Libyan beach last year.
In the aftermath of Harambe’s death, three major networks devoted a total of 1 hour, 28 minutes and 17 seconds to the story. This over the course of their morning and evening news cycles. Compare that to the 2015 slaughtering of 21 Christians by the Islamic State. Only 14 minutes and 30 seconds of coverage was given by ABC, CBS, and NBC.
Apparently the life of one gorilla is more important than a score of human beings. Perhaps the liberal media doesn’t care about Christians overseas. They seem to bend over backwards to defend Muslim refugees at every turn, but when Christians–who choose to stay in their homelands–are killed, it’s practically ignored.
This simply highlights the disgusting biased shown by mainstream media. Liberals have always placed more importance on the rights of animals, and other non-issues, than the rights of their fellow man. Good Morning America even called Harambe’s death the “Zoo Horror,” but say little about the ongoing killings of Christians around the world.
More fruitcakes gathered around the Cincinnati Zoo to mourn the animal. Activists held up signs like “All Animal Lives Matter” and “Taken Too Soon.” What the heck? Are they really mourning a gorilla’s death? The priorities of the left are clearly out of whack.
Why do we even pay attention anymore?
