Be careful what you wish for – that might be a good take-away for Hillary Clinton from this week’s town hall debate against Donald Trump.
Remember how the Democratic candidate kept referencing her campaign website and telling voters to go to her site to get the real facts? And remember how she kept telling debate watchers that Donald Trump needed to be fact-checked – and that she and her campaign staffers were the ones who were doing it?
Well, Clinton may just have to eat those words.
Some people, post-debate, actually did do some fact-checking – and the score for her on a count of five statements is Lies, 5; Truth, 0.
As the Proud Conservative noted: “It’s surprising that every single debate Hillary Clinton is adamant about America fact-checking her, but apparently she doesn’t realize that voters will catch her in lie after lie.”
Here’s one: Clinton said she apologized for referring to fully half of Trump supporters as a “basket of deplorables,” but she never did. Rather, she only spoke of her “regret” at using the word “half” to describe the number of Trump supporters she thought were deplorables.
Another lie: Clinton said the huge number of Muslim refugees she wants the country to accept would receive “tough” vetting form her administration. But in 2013, she admitted in a speech to the Jewish United Fund of Metropolitan Chicago’s Vanguard Luncheon that it’s impossible to vet all the refugees – that the government “can’t possibly vet all those refugees, so they don’t know if … jihadists are coming in along with legitimate refugees.”
Another lie: Clinton said she deleted only personal emails, not official State Department messages – but FBI director James Comey found differently, and stated so publicly.
Clinton also stated falsely the timeline of her secretary of State service when President Obama was drawing a red line against Syria, and wrongly accused Trump of attacking the late Capt. Humayun Khan, the former Army officer who lost his life in Iraq and whose parents then went on the offensive against Trump.
