Remember Cindy Sheehan, the bane of the George W. Bush White House?
After her son was killed in the Iraq War, she became a highly vocal anti-war activist, going so far as to set up a camp outside Bush’s Texas home. Progressives lectured her critics, saying they were morally obligated to listen to Sheehan because she’d lost a child to war.
Fast forward to 2016 and somehow I doubt these same progressives will insist that we heed the heartfelt statements of another grieving mother.
As reported in Western Journalism:
The events surrounding the terrorist attack in Benghazi that took the life of four Americans has been hotly debated for nearly four years, with numerous people criticizing then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, now the presumptive Democrat nominee for president, for not sending extra security as per the request of Ambassador Chris Stevens, who died in the attack.
One of Clinton’s biggest critics has been Patricia Smith, whose son Sean was an information management officer who also died during the Benghazi attack.
Following the release of the Republican-led House Select Committee report on Benghazi, Smith stepped up her criticism of Clinton to a new level, insisting she believes the Democrat front-runner should be “in stripes” — slang for a prison uniform. (…)
“All she has done is lied and people are believing her,” she said. “Have her call me! I’m still waiting. Hillary, I’m waiting for what you promised me. All I heard was you getting on TV calling me a liar. That’s not true, Hillary. I am not the liar. You are the liar.”
After the report was released, and the extent of her responsibility was revealed, Hillary Clinton had the nerve to say, “It’s time to move on.” Patricia Smith sounds determined to make sure that American’s don’t “move on,” forget what happened to her son and other Americans in Benghazi — and make the mistake of electing Hillary president.
