All good things must come to an end. So it was only a matter of time, really, before the close friendship and political partnership of Hillary Clinton and Huma Abedin flickered and faded, particularly as the scandals tied to the former secretary of State’s email server rose – to the point now, of roping in her longtime aide.
But the switch flip from friend to foe is nonetheless intriguing.
As the Political Insider wrote: “Clinton, with just days before the 2016 presidential election, is in so much hot water that even the closest members of her inner circle are turning on her.”
After James Comey, director of the FBI, announced the agency would be sifting through another 650,000 emails found of Anthony Weiner’s laptop, Clinton’s old-time friend and confidante – and the estranged wife of Weiner – said she’d had enough.
“Now,” Political Insider wrote, “it appears that Human Abedin is having her attorneys negotiate and fully cooperate with investigators.”
What a smack in the face to Clinton, who’s been so close to Abedin in recent times that it’s sometimes a challenge to find an online photograph where the two aren’t paired. But Abedin’s been curiously missing from the campaign trail in recent hours – and according to the Political Insider, there’s a reason for that.
“The Justice Department and the FBI are in discussions with lawyers for Huma Abedin to conduct a full search of new emails discovered on her husband’s computer that turned up during another investigation,” Political Insider wrote.
The FBI just obtained a search warrant for the emails. And both “Justice Department and FBI officials view Abedin as cooperative with the investigation,” the Political Insider reported.
Surely, Clinton’s shocked at Abedin’s cooperation.
“Huma and Clinton have been through so much,” Newsmax wrote. “For Huma to turn on her mentor like this is a sign of how serious things just became. … This is the worst possible news for Hillary and ‘Clinton, Inc.'”
