In 1907, President Theodore Roosevelt stated his thoughts on immigration. He believed that if an immigrant came to America in good faith and assimilated into American society, then they should be treated equally.
“But,” he said, “this is predicated upon the person’s becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American … There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn’t an American at all.”
It is for this reason that many Americans are hesitant to allow Muslims into the United States. For many Muslims, their allegiance isn’t to the United States, but to Allah.
The values of Western society and Muslim society are fundamentally different. Perhaps the biggest difference is in how the West treats women.
Last month, Patriot Journal brought you reports on Dr. Jumana Nagarwala and Dr. Fakhruddin Attar, who are continuing to perform female genital mutilation (FGM) on young girls in America. This is in direct violation of federal laws specifically outlawing the practice.
These Muslim doctors are now facing jail time for their crimes, but the accused are trying to get off the hook in the sickest possible way.
From Mad World News:
Nagarwala and Fakhruddin are demanding that all charges be dropped and that they are allowed to continue their medical practice because the heinous procedure involving the genital mutilation of female children is a “religious practice.”
In a stomach-churning yet expected turn of events, charges against the Muslim medical butchers are at risk of being dismissed as the three suspects invoke the left’s ultimate defense of Islam’s most inhumane customs as being religious rights.
These cowardly doctors are attempting to hide behind the first amendment, claiming that physically and psychologically harming young girls is part of their freedom to practice their religion.
There’s only one problem. Female genital mutilation is not an obligation in Islam. In fact, Muslims are always quick to say that FGM is not Islamic when confronted about it.
So which is it? Is FGM merely a cultural tradition, or is it a religious tradition? In truth, it doesn’t matter. Even without FGM, Islam still treats women terribly.
Justifying this barbarism may work in other countries, but this is America. Here, women have rights and are protected from physical harm at the hand of religious zealots.
Acting U.S. Attorney Daniel Lemisch stated that:
“Female genital mutilation constitutes a particularly brutal form of violence against women and girls. It is also a serious federal felony in the United States. The practice has no place in modern society and those who perform FGM on minors will be held accountable under federal law.
These people seem to think that their religion and their customs take precedence over everything else. Well guess what – it doesn’t. If these doctors didn’t like this fact, they should have gone back to their country. If you break the law here, you pay the consequences.
These doctors went to great lengths in order to avoid detection. If they had nothing to hide, why were they acting guilty? They were well aware that they were breaking the law, and that will be their downfall. Unless their lawyers pack the jury with Sharia Law sympathizers. If a trial is held in Detroit, that would not be farfetched.
