Uh-Oh! Donald Trump Faces 3rd Party Threat…Koch Pledging Millions To Beat Him!

The pundits and professionals have been wrong about just about everything this election cycle and it looks like that streak is set to continue.

Remember when it was going to be Jeb Bush against Hillary Clinton? Or when Donald Trump was going to be denied the nomination by Ted Cruz? How about that #NeverTrump third party campaign?

Well, it does look like there is going to be a serious third party this election, but it isn’t #NeverTrump.

Gary Johnson, a former two term Republican governor of New Mexico and William Weld, a former Massachusetts Governor are running to be the ticket for the Libertarian Party. Recent polls have given Johnson 10% and 11% when he is included.

Given his combination of fiscal conservatism and social liberalism (anti-spending, pro-weed), if he actually got some money and exposure, this could get interesting given the high negatives of Trump and Clinton.

Well, it looks like it just might.

According to The Daily Caller…

Billionaire businessman and philanthropist David Koch has pledged “tens of millions of dollars” to help bankroll the campaign of Libertarian presidential candidate Gary Johnson, according to a source within Johnson’s campaign.

While reports of Koch’s support are contradictory, there may be something to it…

But after publication, the spokesman told TheDC: “Reports that David Koch has pledged his support to Gary Johnson – or any candidate running for president for that matter – are untrue.”

Despite that denial, a source with a leadership position in the Libertarian Party told The Daily Caller Thursday afternoon that Johnson’s on track to receive the billionaire’s support.

“In the event that a Johnson/[Bill] Weld ticket emerges from the convention, a pathway is in place for significant funding from Koch, [Steve] Wynn and other large donors,” the source said.

As a Republican, I believe that competition is good. The two party system is broken so the more the merrier!

No matter what, it is going to be interesting.
