If only progressives could get their stories straight — and in this particular case, the pun is intended.
They want children to stop using the word “gay” as a schoolyard synonym for “stupid” or “bad.” They insist that everything gay is good.
So how does an image of two of the left’s most hated men locking lips get that message across?
A progressive group has rented a billboard close to the site of the Republican National Convention in Cleveland that is supposed to annoy GOP delegates. It will probably just amuse or confuse them, however.
James Michael Nichols, Queer Voices Deputy Editor for the Huffington Post, reports:
Planting Peace, the non-profit organization behind The Equality House, a rainbow-colored house that sits across the street from Westboro Baptist Church, is calling out Donald Trump and the Republican Party in a massive billboard that went up on Thursday in Cleveland, Ohio, where the RNC will take place next week. The billboard, below, shows an illustration of Trump poised to kiss Ted Cruz beside a caption that reads “Love trumps Hate. End homophobia.” (…)
We guess if the folks living in Cleveland have to suffer through the convention happening in their city next week, at the very least they’ll have something inspiring to look at, right?
It still makes no sense. If Trump and Cruz are kissing, doesn’t that put them on the “progressive” side, at least based on the left’s own simplistic calculus? And didn’t anyone at Equality House get the message that Cruz has been out of the race for some time, and isn’t even on the vice presidential short list?
Maybe if they stopped obsessing about the tiny, powerless Westboro Baptist Church and set up shop outside the Orlando terrorist’s radical mosque, they’d be more relevant.
