Over the course of the 2016 Presidential Election—and the months since—we have been forced to put up with celebrities and their bloated opinions. Well now it looks like they’re going to have to put up with ours, and it’s hitting them where it hurts the most.
We’ve never asked the elite of Hollywood, television, and the music industry what they think, but they feel the need to exploit their fame and our fandom to push a political agenda.
We all had to suffer through pathetic YouTube videos where movie stars tell us who to vote for. We had to listen to them talk on TV about moving to Canada should Donald Trump win the election. And we had to listen to them call Trump supporters (i.e.: you and me) everything from racist, sexist, xenophobic, and scum.
Last weekend, aged pop star Madonna, unleashed more of this hypocritical celebrity condemnation. During the so-called Women’s March, she co-opted the event to spew her hatred and stupidity across the nation, by saying she’s thought about blowing up the White House. And she got some bad, bad news from the Secret Service. Yet somehow things just got worse for her.
Perhaps the was the last straw. But now it seems people are fighting back.
MEDIA RELEASEJanuary 24th 2017TEXARKANA RADIO STATION BANS MADONNATexarkana’s Classic Hits station – HITS 105 is…
From Conservative Tribune:
But according to Fox News, Madonna’s effort to downplay her remarks were not enough to keep her from getting banned — not from the White House, but from the regular rotation on a popular radio station in northeast Texas.
The announcement came via a Facebook post from HITS 105FM in Texarkana, Texas, in which the station’s general manager declared Madonna’s commentary to be “un-American.”
Billboard reported that station manager Terry Thomas wrote in a statement: “Banning all Madonna songs at HITS 105 is not a matter of politics, it’s a matter of patriotism. It just feels wrong to us to be playing Madonna songs and paying her royalties when the artist has shown un-American sentiments.”
Of course this movement to hold celebrities accountable for what they say would start in Texas. They are unashamedly patriotic and will not tolerate such hatred and abuse directed at our President.
For far too long we’ve had to put up with the ego’s of these so-called luminaries. Just because they make movies or dance around on a stage, does not mean we care about their opinions.
Especially when they live the kind of lives few of us can even imagine.
Hopefully other radio stations and organizations will follow 105FM and make a statement. We will not be bullied by the tyranny of celebrity.
We will embrace patriotism, love our country, and respect for our leaders. And we will expect our celebrities to do the same.
