Obama ran on a platform of change during his first campaign. After eight years of strong conservative leadership under Bush–leadership that helped root out terrorism from many parts of the world–we still had legitimate problems. The media did a good job of blaming the 2008 economic crisis on President Bush, all but giving the election to the democrat.
But after eight years, are we better off? Has the most liberal president in American history helped our country with his bloated government programs and radical federal oversight?
We know that electing a black President hasn’t helped race relations between Americans. Even though most Americans are open-minded, Obama’s influence has empowered radical hate-mongers like Black Lives Matter to turn entire generations against their neighbors, inciting all new divides between Americans. That’s something that should never have happened under Obama.
But what about in other ways? How has our economy fared? What about healthcare?
Even a cursory investigation will prove things are far worse than they were eight years ago.
“The president said the U.S. ‘is indisputably better off’ because of him, and those who voted for Trump “are better off than they were when I came into office for the most part,” CNS News reported.
Breitbart News put President Obama’s claim to the test using eight key metrics of economic health: the federal debt, the gross domestic product annual growth rate, the unemployment rate, labor participation rates, median annual income, home ownership rates, health care costs, and reliance upon food stamps.
Six of these eight metrics show that Americans are demonstrably worse off in November 2016 than they were in January 2009, when President Obama was inaugurated.
The two metrics which show nominal improvement–the unemployment rate and median annual income–come with significant caveats.
The Breitbart investigation found that the federal debt doubled under Obama, from $9.99 trillion to $19.95 trillion. That amounts to the same debt racked up from 1789 to 2008. Obama did in eight years what it took every other president in 219. Shocking.
Under Obama, we’ve seen the worst economic growth from any President since Hoover (who presided during the Great Depression). “He’s the only President since Hoover who has not had a single year that saw an annual growth of GDP (Gross Domestic Product) that reached or exceed three percent.”
While the unemployment rate did decline from 7.6 percent to 4.9 percent, that doesn’t account for the 13.5 million Americans that dropped out of the labor force, simply because they gave up looking for jobs.
Median household income has not improved under Obama. It’s actually 1.5% lower than it was eight years ago.
Home ownership declined since 2009.
And of course the big one: health insurance rates skyrocketed under Obama. The average cost for a family in 2008 was $12,680. Today a family can expect to pay $18,142, with at least $5000 of that out of the family’s pocket.
It’s clear that beyond all the rhetoric, beyond all the carefully chosen words, Obama has done no good for our country. His radical social experiments–of placing the wrong people into leadership–from his over-extending government programs and policies, have only worsened life for most of us.
We are not a stronger nation than we were eight years ago. We are not safer. We are not more prosperous.
Only the opposite is true.
