So the numbers are in and, as Trump supporters suspected all along, the vast majority of Hillary Clinton’s highly touted “majority votes” came in from only one state: California. How many of those votes were cast by that state’s army of illegal aliens is still unclear, but we can be fairly certain that many came from entertainment industry insiders.
Some Democrats are still in denial about how much Hollywood’s “endorsement” hurt Hillary and kept her from winning the White House. One thing that can’t be denied, however, is that everyone loves a winner. Slowly but surely, certain show biz figures are making conciliatory noises about Trump, now that he is the most powerful man in the world.
Now actor Matthew McConaughey, one of the biggest names in movies and television, has granted an interview that has everyone stunned. From IJR:
He’s our president. And, it’s very dynamic and as divisive of an Inauguration and time as we’ve had. At the same time, it’s time for us to embrace and shake hands with this fact. And be constructive with him over the next four years.
So anyone, even those who may strongly disagree with his principles or things he’s said and done — and that’s another thing, we’ll see what he does compares to what he has said — no matter how much you even disagreed along the way, it’s time to think about how constructive can you be.
‘Cause he’s our president for the next four years, at least, the President of the United States.
While this was hardly a ringing endorsement of President Trump’s policies, even this common sense advice from McConaughey will be viewed by many liberals as “treason.” Doesn’t he know that he is supposed to be on the same page as Madonna and Lady Gaga and other obnoxious anti-Trump celebrities?
Obviously McConaughey doesn’t care. Besides being genuinely patriotic, it’s possible he’s also seen the negative reaction ordinary Americans have had to those “stars” who have mounted obnoxious “protests” against Trump, and realized that he should take the high road instead. Instead he’s getting on the bandwagon with other reasonable celebrities.
Whatever his true motivations, congratulations to Matthew McConaughey for being his own man, in the best American tradition.
