The United States of America was born when freedom-loving patriots decided that a tyrannical government across the sea had no right to rule them.
In response to a series of oppressive laws, these patriots took up arms and fought back against their royal overlords.
The patriots were victorious against all odds. Soon, a new government – a constitutional republic – was up and running in the United States of America.
None of this happened by accident. Though the odds were stacked against the patriots, there is a reason that they even stood a chance in the face of the best fighting force in the world.
That reason is simple: they had guns.
Indeed, though British nobles attempted to limit the number of armed non-soldiers within their empire, the American colonists had a robust history of carrying firearms.
This ingrained sense of self-defense meant that the patriots could successfully fight against a large military force.
As a result, it is no wonder that the Founding Fathers wanted to preserve this principle for future Americans.
When they wrote the Second Amendment to the Constitution, they did just that: “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”
Modern liberals, however, forget this historical fact. Instead, entire state governments criminalize gun ownership.
See what California just did to its gun owners:
From The Federalist Papers:
The State of California just passed more draconian gun control measures along with the citizens ignorantly voting on fear-mongering ballot initiatives.
Beginning July 1, any gun owner who owns magazines that can hold over 10 rounds is supposed to give them up. They either have to destroy them, give them to police, give them to gun shops, or sell them out of state. So far, no one has seemed to comply and sheriffs are saying they aren’t planning on seeking out gun owners and checking their magazines.
These new regulations come hand-in-hand with other new laws, which make it significantly more difficult for Californians to buy firearms and ammunition.
Laws like these have no place in the United States of America. For a country that was founded by people who could defend themselves, these laws are a significant departure from history.
Liberals fail to comprehend the importance of an armed populace in a constitutional republic. Without a means for citizens to defend themselves, there is nothing to stop a corrupt government from destroying the republic.
This reality is why every dictator in history starts by disarming the people. The old mantra states that an armed populace is a free populace, and history shows that that is one of the most accurate statements to ever exist.
On a less catastrophic level, these laws are also foolishly short-sighted.
Californians must not realize the long-term repercussions of having law-abiding citizens give up their guns while simultaneously having no way whatsoever to know if criminals are doing the same.
Criminals obviously will not follow this law. They are criminals, after all. What that means is fewer people will be able to defend themselves against everyday threats, and more people will die.
The bottom line is that liberal gun policies endanger good people by making them vulnerable to both local criminals and nefarious government forces.
