Immigration and Customs Enforcement Thomas D. Homan has expressed his frustration with sanctuary cities, and he hasn’t been shy about calling out the biggest offenders.
New York has been notoriously uncooperative, and San Francisco is where Kate Steinle was murdered by an illegal immigrant.
But neither of these coastal cities can compete against a city so corrupt, it easily tops the list.
The Daily Wire reports:
In an interview with The Washington Examiner, acting head of Immigration and Customs Enforcement Thomas D. Homan singles out Chicago as one of the worst offenders.
“In the last year, I’ve read all these stories of how the crime rate has exploded in Chicago, and the president’s trying to help them. We’re stepping up our game in Chicago. Is Chicago doing everything that it can to decrease the criminal activity up there? I say no,” Homan told The Examiner.
While that’s not terribly surprising, it doesn’t make it any less outrageous. Politics aside, how can the leadership of any city sleep at night while knowing full well that the city’s residents are not being protected?
Labeling sanctuary cities as “un-American,” Homan conveyed his frustration with Democratically-run blue cities refusing to comply with federal law enforcement.
“They’re a sanctuary city, they’re proud of it,” he stated, adding: “Why would Cook County not want my officers, federal law enforcement officers, to go talk to somebody who is illegally in the United States that committed yet another crime against the citizens of this country? It’s ludicrous.”
Democrats may be proud to call their cities sanctuaries from the law, but they are not so happy about being called un-American. But when you refuse to comply with American laws, instituted by the American people and its representatives, that’s a pretty fair term to use.
When advancing the liberal agenda becomes more important than enforcing the laws of the land, there’s some serious problems afoot.
You can be as compassionate as you want to be on immigration if that floats your boat, but there’s zero justification for having that so-called compassion outweigh the safety of all residents.
That’s what’s happening in Chicago and scores of other sanctuary cities. Thankfully, it sounds like Homan and company are ready to put the hammer down and put a stop to the nonsense.
