DRAMA: Nasty Fight Over Trump Goes Public…Is This News Channel Devolving Into Chaos?

Anyone following the election has heard about the fighting between Fox News and the Trump campaign.  Trump has frequently gone to Twitter and other outlets to express his disapproval over how the news channel has misrepresented him over the last six months.

Now we are learning the fight is deeper than we realize.

The fight is going on between Fox News personalities, which has spilled out publicly, exposing certain individuals’ bitterness at Donald Trump and his candidacy.

It started with the bad blood between Trump and prime time host Megyn Kelly when she targeted him during the first Republican primary debate.  It quickly grew from there.

Now Bill O’Reilly has been dragged into the fray, with Kelly criticizing his defense of her in a recent interview with Trump.

“Kelly first aired this criticism in an interview with More Magazine last month, saying, “I do wish that O’Reilly had defended me more in his interview with Trump. I would have defended him more.” (Breitbart)

The spats have grown from there.

The Five co-host Greg Gutfeld went on to attack his fellow Fox reporters Greta Van Susteren and Sean Hannity, claiming they were too kind to Trump at a recent town hall.

As with all childish complaints, he did it over Twitter:

whew another rough one for trump. how does he put up with this stuff!!

and get this: tomorrow Trump’s gunna be on Hannity, so u know Donald will be facing the fight of his life. Thoughts and prayers.

There’s more, according to Breitbart.

“The incident between former Breitbart reporter Michelle Fields and Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski has also sparked a public Twitter spat between Hannity and Fields, who once appeared regularly on the Fox Business Network show Cashin’ In.

After Hannity’s interview with Trump Monday night, Fields blasted him on Twitter for not challenging Trump’s criticism of her battery charge against Lewandowski.”

We can spend hours going over the Twitter transcript, but it’ll make our heads spin.  The fact that a single network cannot get along over a candidate is telling.

When most liberal media can unite for or against a candidate, the one so-called “Fair and Balanced” network is bickering like children over Trump?

The Fields incident in particular has exposed some of the tensions at Fox, with the anti-Trump faction led by Kelly (who last January dedicated an entire show to National Review’s “Against Trump” issue) featuring sympathetic coverage of Fields’ battery allegation, while the more pro-Trump factions like Hannity and Van Susteren have expressed skepticism.

Does this all boil down to one personality getting offended at Trump months ago?

Does Kelly realize her job as a news person is not hold grudges, but simply to report the facts?

But what am I saying?  It’s cable news, facts went out the window a long time ago.

Either Donald Trump’s success is just too hard for Fox to handle, or the standard for journalism in the corporation has fallen woefully.  Maybe it’s a little of both.

No matter what, be sure to grab the popcorn the next time you tune to Fox News.  It’s going to be entertaining.
