Is it time for Hillary Clinton to pack up and head home?
She just came off a weak of miserable poll numbers – and now this, from NBC, no less.
While still placing her in the lead – something that other surveys say is a question mark – the left-leaning NBC News/Survey Monkey poll was forced to admit in its most recent poll, released Tuesday: Clinton’s falling fast in the favor department with voters.
As the Hill reported: “Clinton leads [Donald] Trump by 4 points, 48 to 44 percent, among registered voters in the … tracking poll released Tuesday morning, down two points from last week.”
And the news grows worse for Clinton, in that same survey.
“The Democratic presidental nominee’s lead is even smaller in a four-way matchup,” the Hill said. “In that scenario, Clinton leads by just two points, 42 to 40 percent.”
Libertarian Gary Johnson isn’t doing any favors for Clinton. His presence on the campaign trail earns him fully 11 percent of votes – ballots that Clinton badly needs. And according to the NBC survey, Green Party’s Jill Stein nabs four percent, despite the fact she’s facing criminal misdemeanor charges for property destruction during a pipeline protest.
Clinton’s recent poll dwindling is due to her “deplorables” comment, in which she cast a whole segment of Trump supports as racist xenophobes, and due to her campaign’s seeming attempt to cover up her pneumonia diagnosis. And just to look at how dire the situation is for Clinton, consider this, from the Hill: “Her lead in the NBC survey was 10 points about five weeks ago.”
Other polls in the past week have put Trump ahead of Clinton in several key battleground states, and in a breakneck race on the national ticket, due in part to her ongoing email scandal. A recent LA Times/USC poll, for instance, recently gave Trump the lead on the national scale by three percentage points; a CNN/ORC poll favored him by one percentage point.
