Everyone expects Donald Trump to win in New York, but that is only part of the story.
That is because New York has a quirky system for awarding delegates. If Trump does not get 50% in a congressional district, he loses one of that districts three delegates to whomever is second.
It is possible that Trump could win every congressional district and still lose 27 delegates to either Ted Cruz or John Kasich.
That is why the latest polling out of the Empire State must have Team Trump feeling pretty good.
The latest poll in New York shows Donald Trump comfortably ahead in his home state — leading his rivals by 43 points, according to the NY1/Baruch College poll.
A whopping sixty percent of likely Republican votes from NY support Trump. Ted Cruz only has 17 percent. John Kasich brings up the rear with 14.
This is good news for Trump, who certainly needs most or all of the 95 delegates to bring him closer to clinching the nomination.
