There was a lot of chattering online last week about an impending revolt on November 4. Conservative groups and new sites were concerned about “Refuse Fascism” an offshoot of disgraced Antifa. This group was planning events throughout the nation to protest President Trump and his administration.
Rumors were that these events would spark a revolution, some kind of overthrow of our 200+ year-old democracy. While few of us believed that would happen, the sensible among us remembered the violent protests earlier in the year and were concerned.
But as it turns out, this weekend’s events were particularly calm. Why? Because nobody showed up!
From Daily Wire:
“Refuse Fascism” protests took place in 20 cities Saturday as leftists and “anti-Fascists” took to the streets to protest the “Trump-Pence regime.” But unlike earlier protests — particularly the ones that took place in the wake of the 2016 election — the Refuse Fascism demonstrations were mostly peaceful.
But mostly because no one showed up.
The mainstream media was quick to announce that there were no arrests and only minimal unrest at the two dozen or so protests that took place Saturday, but, oddly enough, there was little mention of crowd size — except to reference the massive crowds that took to the streets last year. That’s because even in major cities like Chicago and New York, the protests were best described as “anemic.”
In Chicago, only around 100 people showed up to protest in a cold drizzle Saturday morning. The group marched around for a bit before ending up at Chicago’s Trump Tower where they held a sparsely attended rally. They were appropriately outfitted with signs denouncing Trump’s “radical agenda” and painting the president as a crypto-Nazi, but were forced to cover their black fatigues with raincoats and umbrellas.
The protests in New York were a little stronger, but videos of the event on social media show a crowd that’s perhaps only slightly larger than the tourist presence that regularly overtakes Times Square.

I haven’t seen such low-energy events since Hillary Clinton’s campaign rallies!
Conservatives groups had reason to be worried. Earlier in this year, Antifa confronted numerous events—which led to ugly outbreaks of violence. Free speech rallies and college talks were ruined because of these domestic terrorists. Recent stories revealed how many within Antifa deliberately plan acts of violence, using weapons like knives, ice picks, and shotguns.
So the fact that this weekend’s protests went over like a wet balloon is good news.
But why were they so “anemic”? Several reasons. One, Antifa is losing momentum. Even liberals have called out the group for their violent tactics. Their involvement in the Charlottesville riot earlier in the year solidified them as a terrorist group. Plenty of supporters jumped ship after that.
Second, you have to understand that Antifa, like many other liberal activist groups, was just a front for democratic power brokers. Men like George Soros funneled money into these groups (like BAMN, BLM, and Occupy Wall street), hired paid protestors and rioters, all to stir up trouble. The end goal was to punish Trump and conservatives.
They’ve failed, time and again. So the people with the money have pulled support. No Soros cash, no Antifa. Simple as that.
