As morning dawned in the United States, terror struck. A suicide bomber attacked commuters in the New York station of Port Authority. Police and first responders went to work, as the city was put on lock down.
Details continue to emerge about the attack. We know that several people were harmed. There were no fatalities. The terrorist’s plan was to kill himself. However, he was taken alive by authorities.
According to early reports, the man was following the orders of one group.
I bet you already know which one.
From Daily Mail:
A Bangladeshi national in his 20s has been taken into custody with serious injuries after a suspected pipe bomb he was carrying malfunctioned and exploded prematurely inside a Midtown Manhattan subway station Monday morning…
The suspect, identified as 27-year-old Akayed Ullah, was found injured at the scene and rushed to Bellevue Hospital. He was wearing what appears to be a homemade pipe bomb attacked to his body with velcro and zip ties. Authorities say Ullah is talking to investigators at the hospital…
There have been reports that Ullah was inspired by ISIS.
Former NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton told MSNBC’s Morning Joe that the suspect ‘supposedly was setting the device off in the name of ISIS’ and that it was ‘definitely a terrorist attack, definitely intended’.
At a morning press conference, current NYPD Commission James O’Neill said that the suspect ‘did make statements’ but that they are not going to comment on them yet.
Though it’s still early in the investigation, New York City officials say it was definitely an attempted terror attack.
‘This was an attempted terror attack and thank God the perpetrator did not achieve his ultimate goals,’ Mayor Bill de Blasio said.
Far be it from ISIS to let us have Christmas in peace. This vile organization specifically targets this time of year. They know that people around the world are preparing to celebrate the birth of Christ. They want to ruin it by causing harm and death.
This attack comes after President Trump scored major victories against ISIS in the Middle East. The terror network has lost ground in both Iraq and Syria. They can no longer be called an “Islamic State,” because they control very little territory.
But their influence is still felt around the world. It only takes a small group of losers to cause harm. Only one man attempted this attack. Thankfully his homemade pipe bomb failed to cause wide-spread harm. Early reports indicate he didn’t plan to detonate at that time. He was headed for a larger area, when it went off by accident. Shoddy work, thank goodness.
The poorly-made device harmed only a few people. The attacker got the worse of the blast. Reports state he is in a hospital and his injuries are severe. Hopefully he will live, so that he can face justice.
