NYPD Cops Turn Their Backs On Mayor De Blasio After His Shameful Reaction To Slain Officer

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio has made a habit of being more concerned with raising his own profile at the expense of doing the job he was elected to do, but his latest stunt has set the bar even lower.

Last week, NYPD Officer Miosotis Familia was targeted and murdered by a deranged gunman. The senseless slaying tore the city to its core.

For the overwhelming majority of elected officials, a tragedy such as this would quickly move to the top of the priority list.

As he’s demonstrated time and again, de Blasio marches to his own drummer, and that drummer could care less what tune the public wants to hear.

So how did de Blasio respond to the senseless death of one of the city’s finest? Red State has the scoop:

Last week, NYPD Officer Miosotis Familia was murdered by a gunman, as she sat with her partner in her patrol car. Familia was a 12 year veteran of the force. So how did de Blasio react to this attack?

He hopped a plane to Germany, to play Protest-boy at the G20 Summit the very next day.

De Blasio’s ridiculously insensitive decision has been roundly blasted. Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association head Patrick Lynch is among the many that have spoken out against the mayor.

“The mayor is the compass for the city of New York,” he told the Daily News. “And unfortunately, when a police officer got killed, his compass led him to Germany rather than here on the Concourse. He should have been here with the family…He should have been there with us.”

The mayor managed to return in time for Familia’s funeral, and he took full advantage of the fact that cameras and microphones were there in abundance.

De Blasio delivered one of his signature prepared speeches that did little to make anybody feel better, and the NYPD officers in attendance had absolutely no interest in hearing what he had to say.

Hundreds of officers completely turned their backs to the mayor.

This isn’t the first time that NYPD officers have taken such a tact towards de Blasio at a high profile funeral, so there’s a gigantic message in there that the mayor has yet to show the capacity to comprehend.

De Blasio is the mayor of New York City. Period. There are literally hundreds of other things for him to focus on as opposed to leaving the city to protest.

If he wants to play activist full time, perhaps the voters of New York City will give him his wish this November.
