Since its formation in 1948, the nation of Israel has had a strong ally in the United States. Not only do we have a large population of Jewish citizens, our government has long believed in the right for Israel to operate as a sovereign nation in their homeland. Despite the resistance of many of their Arab neighbors, Israel has continued to grow, backed by American and other Western allies.
That all changed when Obama became president. Despite rhetoric from Joe Biden and others in his administration, the President has had an all but frosty relationship with Israel. He has frequently criticized their measures for keeping their country safe from terror and has helped long-time enemies like Iran. It almost makes you think Obama is against Israel and only shows support because he is obligated to do so.
Now we have more news that all but proves he is against the country.
From Washington Times:
The State Department paid hundreds of thousands of dollars in taxpayers grants to an Israeli group that used the money to build a campaign to oust Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in last year’s Israeli parliamentary elections, a congressional investigation concluded Tuesday.
Some $350,000 was sent to OneVoice, ostensibly to support the group’s efforts to back Israeli-Palestinian peace settlement negotiations. But OneVoice used the money to build a voter database, train activists and hire a political consulting firm with ties to President Obama’s campaign — all of which set the stage for an anti-Netanyahu campaign, the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations said in a bipartisan staff report.
That’s right, your tax dollars went to support an effort to oust the long-standing leader of a sovereign nation. It could be that Obama’s State department wanted to remove Netanyahu, a staunch Israeli leader who fights hard to protect his people, in favor of a move that would weaken Israel’s place in the Middle East. Many have argued about an Israeli-Palestinian peace agreement. One of the reasons one hasn’t been made is because it would allow enemies of Israel greater access to land and resources that belong to the country.
Obama’s plan seemed to be to aid a group that wanted this agreement and were trying to undermine the election to get it done.
“The State Department ignored warnings signs and funded a politically active group in a politically sensitive environment with inadequate safeguards,” said Sen. Rob Portman, chairman of the investigative subcommittee. “It is completely unacceptable that U.S. taxpayer dollars were used to build a political campaign infrastructure that was deployed — immediately after the grant ended — against the leader of our closest ally in the Middle East. American resources should be used to help our allies in the region, not undermine them.”
More signs of suspicious dealings from Obama/Clinton State Department. Was there a sovereign nation they didn’t try to destroy?
When one of our most important allies is under fire because of what the president did, you know it’s a failed administration.
