After Bill Clinton essentially got away with violating his own laws against workplace sexual harassment during the Monica Lewinsky affair, it was commonplace to hear people say — approvingly or otherwise — that the law, not to mention sexual morality, didn’t matter anymore. Anyone who objected to Bill’s behavior was just “uptight,” jealous and old fashioned, and after all, “it wasn’t really sex.”
Whatever his other powers, a president has the ability to set the tone for the nation. But even before getting back into the White House, it looks like Hillary Clinton’s malfeasance is becoming as contagious as her husband’s.
The New York Post reports:
A lawyer for one of the NYPD cops accused of doing favors for bribes — including mile-high sex with this hooker on a free trip to Las Vegas — said his client’s behavior was no worse than Hillary Clinton’s.
“It’s similar to what the FBI said about Hillary Clinton, and why she wasn’t charged,” said John Meringolo, a lawyer for James Grant, who pleaded not guilty in Manhattan federal court Wednesday.
“She was unaware she was committing a crime. Here, there is no crime whatsoever.”
We might laugh or roll our eyes at this story, and who knows whether or not this somewhat desperate sounding defense will work for this police officer. The point is, all over America, even law abiding people look at the FBI’s non-indictment of Hillary Clinton and figure that obeying the law is a mug’s game, that as Donald Trump said, “The system is rigged.” Is this really the kind of America we want? And it’s just getting started.
