For the last 8 years we have watched president Obama trying to bully Israeli PM, Benjamin Netanyahu and “negotiate” Israel into a position of weakness whereby the Arab Muslims that surround them could accomplish their stated goal of pushing Israel into the sea.
While under the pretext of acting as an ally, Obama has treated them like an enemy by constantly criticizing them for retaliating against acts of Islamic terrorism that have included digging tunnels into Israel from Muslim strongholds in Gaza, firing rockets into Israeli territories endangering school children and suicide bombings at border installations.
If this is only ‘terrorism’ and not outright war, then we need to redefine what war is because if Israel doesn’t defend themselves against such attacks, they are not long to exist.
After the Palestinian leader, Mahmoud Abbas outlined plans for further efforts to have a Palestinian state declared by the Muslim controlled, UN General assembly he then introduced anti-Israeli resolutions.
Since the election of Donald Trump, President Obama has toned down his anti-Israel rhetoric trying to appear less radical towards them and more like the altruistic statesman he claims to be by vowing to veto any anti-Israel resolutions the Palestinian authorities may try to pass in the UN
According to Western Journalism:
“Dan Shapiro, the U.S. ambassador to Israel, promised Thursday that the U.S. would continue its longstanding policy toward anti-Israel resolutions in the [UN] Security Council.”
He made clear that the Obama administration would veto the Palestinian-drafted resolution.
“This has been a longstanding policy and I do not see a reason to change it,” Shapiro said.
His statement was in line with what State Department spokesman John Kirby said earlier this week.
“Our view hasn’t changed that we believe that the preferred path for the Palestinians to achieve statehood is through direct negotiations that will lead to a just, lasting and comprehensive peace based on a two-state solution,” Kirby told reporters.
Pundits now say President Obama’s apparent decision to refrain from a last-minute ambush on Israel could have something to do with the incoming Donald Trump administration.
Trump reportedly warned Obama against supporting any anti-Israel resolutions at the U.N. during the transition period.
Evidently, Trumps pro-Israel stance is having an effect on President Obama since he knows that whatever he does now might be negatively reflected in future statements by the new president-elect and that would be bad for his legacy!
