The transgender debate continues to rage. While the fighting between the federal government and the state of North Carolina is only getting started, the American people continue to weigh in on the issue. Most believe allowing men to use women bathrooms, simply because they “feel” like women, endangers the safety of every women in America.
Plenty have voiced their concerns online, receiving unprecedented support by other Americans. While the liberals try to silence them, their stance isn’t going to change. One proponent for transgender rights continues to suffer severely for their misguided, self-righteous ideology.
Since Target announced they would allow men to use women’s bathrooms, customers have been outraged. Their stocks fell drastically after the announcement went out. Now we know they’ve lost an insane amount of cash thanks to their foolish decision.
But will their CEO do the right thing and nix a policy that attacks the safety of their customers? Not on your life!
The CEO of retail giant Target is zig-zagging between the many customers who are angered by his decision to open single-sex bathrooms to the other sex, the gender-identity progressives who pushed for the disastrous transgender policy, and the Wall Street stock-pickers who have chopped roughly $4.5 billion off the company’s value…
That tough feedback includes a consumer boycott that now has 1.2 million supporters, much damage to the company’s brand, and a massive sell-off on Wall Street that has chopped the company’s share price from almost $84 on April 19 to $75.70 on May 11.
That’s a loss of $8.30 per share, or 10 percent, or almost $5 billion since April 19. Of course, some part of that loss is due to President Barack Obama’s weak economy — but no company is helped by many management decisions that anger so many customers.
Any sensible businessman, regardless of his personal beliefs, would change his position in the face of such losses.
But apparently Target’s CEO, Brian Cornell, is not sensible. He even had the gall to compare this issue with the Civil Rights movement of the 1960’s, a tactic that LGBT groups have been doing for years. This is not only grossly inaccurate, but insults the brave Americans who took a stand for racial equality.
So Cornell tried to reassure and flatter progressives about the justice of his company’s brand-damaging, revenue-reducing April 19 decision. “We took a stance,” Cornell said, as he suggested that single-sex bathrooms are just like a racist refusal to use African-Americans in commercial advertising in the 1960s. This kind of delusion comparison screams of the self-righteous arrogance that is coursing through Cornell’s veins.
He wants to appeal to a small number of radical liberals by taking this transgender stance, while violating the rights of the vast majority of his customers. How is that right, Cornell?
