BREAKING: There’s a NEW Contender for Secretary of State…But Not Who You Think!

Hold on to your hats, the brouhaha surrounding Donald Trump’s pick for secretary of State just got even more interesting and exciting.

First Rudy Giuliani. Then Sen. Bob Corker and Gen. David Petraeus. And then the puzzler of all puzzles, Mitt Romney – the one guy from that list of potential secretary picks who actually went out of his way to tear into Trump on the campaign trail and call him out in a most nasty, vicious and vile manner.

But now there are new names on the list of potentials – and this latest actually hits a high note among conservatives.

“Ambassador John Bolton is considered by many to be the best choice to head up and reform the State Department,” Red State reported.

And according to some in the media, Bolton’s not just a talked-about name. He’s a real contender.

“Fox News’ Bret Baier reported that Ambassador Bolton met with Vice President-elect Mike Pence … in Washington to discuss the secretary of State job and will meet with Trump [Friday] at Trump Tower in New York,” Red State wrote.

Trump aides, meanwhile, say four candidates are left in the running. But they won’t identify the final four – except to say Romney indeed is still on the list, as is Giuliani. That leaves two spots unspoken for, and media conjecture is running wild.

But the differences between Bolton and Romney, or Romney and Guiliani, are massive. Basically, Romney’s the moderate of the bunch.

As Ed Morrissey at Hot Air puts it: “If Trump wants to play it on the safer side, Mitt Romney would be a good choice. He’ll get a fairly easy confirmation hearing and Romney has plenty of experience in reorganizations, if not necessarily in foreign policy.”

But if Trump wants reform and bold leadership, it’s Bolton who’s the man.

Bolton’s said as much on Twitter in recent days.
