Donald Trump was swept to victory on a sea of change. Americans wanted to be prosperous again with good jobs at home. They wanted to be kept safe from the ravages of terrorism that could slip through open borders. And they wanted a government that worked for them, not against them.
Trump listened to the American people and offered his solutions. He would bring jobs home to America, lowering taxes to encourage businesses to stay here or come back home, and would renegotiate bad trade deals. He would build a wall to make America safe again. And finally he would tear Obamacare to shreds and replace it with something that really worked for all Americans, providing quality care at truly affordable prices.
He just took a big step toward making that final item happen with a new appointment to spearhead the dismantling of Obamacare.
From The Washington Post:
President-elect Donald Trump has chosen Rep. Tom Price (R-Ga.), an orthopedic surgeon who has been one of Capitol Hill’s fiercest critics of President Obama’s health care law, to be secretary of health and human services…
As HHS secretary, Price would be the nation’s top health official and the incoming administration’s point person for dismantling the sprawling 2010 health-care law, which Trump promised during his campaign to start dismantling on his first day in the Oval Office.
The 62-year-old lawmaker, who represents a wealthy suburban Atlanta district, has played a leading role in Republican opposition to the law and has helped draft several comprehensive bills to replace it. The GOP-led House has voted five dozen times to eliminate all or part of the ACA but has never had a chance to accomplish its goal as long as President Obama has been in the White House.
Now Republicans have no more excuses. Already rumors are cropping up that it could take years to dismantle Obamacare, but Trump will not stand for that. It is sucking Americans dry, picking their pockets, and it must come to an end right away. With a man like Price who knows the ins and outs of Congress and has spearheaded the repeal of Obamacare, Americans know this will not become a back-burner, long-term project.
With a Republican Congress and White House, they can put Obamacare where it belongs: on the trash heap of history.
