A lot of the statements made by Donald Trump are denounced as “insane” and “outrageous,” even though they sound like common sense to everyone else.
The latest fake outrage circles around an observation Trump made during a campaign stop in Ohio. It will have Trump fans shrugging and asking, “So what?”
Trump regularly speaks at some length and lately, the temperature inside the standing room only venues has been over 100 degrees, as he rarely fails to mention. At Politico, they seem to think this is newsworthy:
“You think this is easy? In this beautiful room that is 122 degrees,” Trump said, even though the arena was notably chillier — a number of people wore jackets — than his usual venues. “It is hot and it is always hot when I perform, because the crowds are so big, these rooms were not designed for this kind of crowd.
“I don’t know folks, do you think Hillary could stand up here for an hour?” (…)
“She’s lying in bed getting better and we want her better,” he said. “We want her back on the trail.”
Why is Trump’s question literally headline news? Millions have seen with their own eyes — although they were never supposed to: the sight of Hillary Clinton being propped up by aides and hoisted into a van on Sunday. Her camp says she has pneumonia, and she has indeed taken a break from campaigning.
So clearly the answer to the question about Hillary’s ability to stand up and speak for an hour is a resounding, “No.” But Politico felt Trump’s remark was provocative enough to deserve a whole news story. Too bad they aren’t as motivated to report on the Clinton Foundation or Hillary’s email server or her obvious physical problems.
