Will Hillary Clinton ever be “locked up,” as so many Trump voters are hoping? Or is the administration planning to move on and leave Hillary, her campaign team and her failing Foundation under a cloud of suspicion forever?
FBI Director James Comey took a lot of grief during the campaign for his nail-biting flip flops on whether or not Clinton would be charged with a crime while she was running for president. Both Clintons have publicly blamed her loss in part on the FBI investigations.
In all the excitement surrounding Trump’s victory and inauguration, Comey’s name hasn’t come up recently, but that just changed:
For one thing, Comey says President Trump has asked him to stay on as Director.
Asked about the report today by ABC News, Trump had no comment. The White House has not responded to ABC News’ inquiries about the news.
The New York Times adds:
A decision to retain Mr. Comey would spare the president another potentially bruising confirmation battle. It also would keep Mr. Comey at the center of the F.B.I.’s investigation into several Trump associates and their potential ties with the Russian government.
How “bruising” these confirmation “battles” have been obviously depends on who is reporting on them. So far they seem tame compared to many in recent history. But leave it to the New York Times to find ways to smear Trump at every turn.
And watch for them to give far more attention to those “ties with the Russian government” than they ever did when the subject was Hillary’s illegal email server.
What do you think? Should Trump have replaced Comey, or was it smart to hold onto him? Let us know in the comments below!
