Remember Hurricane Katrina? How could you forget? The left and their media friends carried the story 24/7, and President George Bush was blamed for not doing enough to help and, according to a few sick paranoids, somehow starting it on purpose.
Well, it’s 2016, there’s another massive natural disaster in Louisiana, and the contrast between coverage then and now couldn’t be starker. President Obama has been golfing much of the time, yet few liberals are calling him uncaring or out of touch.
But speaking of contrasts, while Obama was on vacation, Donald Trump was on the scene of the floods, looking for all the world like the actual leader of the country.
The Hill reports:
Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards (D) said Sunday that Donald Trump has helped draw attention to recovery efforts after the recent devastating floods in his state. (…)
“I also appreciated the good phone call, the conversation that I had with Gov. [Mike] Pence [R-Ind.], who was sincere and genuine when he called, and we spoke for a long time on Friday morning about their desire to be helpful,” he said about Trump’s running mate.
Edwards had previously said the state welcomed the GOP nominee, as long as he didn’t use the visit for his own political gain.
And Hillary Clinton? Well, she (or more accurately, one of her staffers) “wrote on Facebook that she spoke with the Louisiana governor, and that the ‘flooding there is bigger than anyone expected.’ She said that while her ‘heart breaks for Louisiana,’ the relief effort ‘can’t afford any distractions.'”
In other words, she has no plans to show up in person. That’s a mistake she may live to regret at election time.
