Donald Trump loves Twitter, even if some of this biggest fans sometimes wish he’d stay away from it for a while. But Trump has used it to get his message out to ordinary Americans, bypassing the hostile mainstream media.
His outspokenness has sometimes gotten him into trouble, but one incident proves that even if Trump — or anyone — uses perfectly acceptable language on social media, liberal idiots will find a way to twist these words into something “offensive.” This is arguably the most pathetic example yet:
“In response to prominent Republicans like Paul Ryan publicly withdrawing support or in some other ways admonishing the nominee Trump tweeted out, ‘It is so nice that the shackles have been taken off me and I can now fight for America the way I want to.’”
Any sane, rational person can clearly understand what the man meant, that since Republicans are dumping him he now no longer has to dance to the Republican Party music and is more free to be, well, Trump.
But that’s not what the [Congressional Black Caucus] sees when they read that tweet. They see what they always see. Racism! Why? Over the use of a single word. The Congressional Black Caucus is claiming Donald Trump approves of slavery because of his use of the word “shackles.”
British journalist Malcolm Muggeridge once observed that when real life itself becomes absurd, satire becomes impossible. This “controversy” sounds like a joke that would have been shot down in the “Saturday Night Live” writers’ room, but it really happened and was reported on by the respected Capitol publication, The Hill.
This is what America’s tax dollars support now: Democratic politicians complaining about Trump’s “racist” “dog-whistle” messages to “white supremacists” on Twitter.
Is it any wonder that no matter what Trump does or says, his millions of supporters stand by his side?
