While some Republican candidates stick a wedge between themselves and New Yorkers, Donald Trump has no problem showing respect to the great state.
This has never been more clear than during his visit to the 9/11 Memorial Museum.
He recently attended the memorial with his wife Melania and several of his staff. The candidate was also escorted by museum President and CEO Joe Daniels, as well as NYPD officials.
The trip allowed the GOP candidate to show his respect, but also to leave behind an impressive gift to the museum. According to the New York Post, Trump donated a whopping $100,000 for the memorial to continue their efforts.
‘Mr. and Mrs. Trump were proud to pay their respects at the 9/11 Memorial Museum today in downtown Manhattan,’ a statement from the Trump campaign read.
They were incredibly impressed with the museum, a monument representative of all of the wonderful people who tragically lost their lives and the families who have suffered so greatly.
This is what ‘New York values’ are really all about,” the statement concluded, in an obvious swipe at Ted Cruz.
Ted Cruz hasn’t done himself any favors in insulting New Yorkers. In trying to garner support from middle American, he has maligned Trump and the state of New York by suggesting their “values” are somehow out of line with the rest of the country.
Rhetoric like that hasn’t helped his numbers in the all important state. Cruz is languishing in third in New York, according to polls, with Trump leading the pack with over 50 percent. If Trump wins in New York, he will earn the vast majority of 95 delegates, a healthy dose necessary to getting him to the nomination.
Keep in mind Trump didn’t publicize his donation to the museum. It was a generous act and show of support to all the families of 9/11 victims and a reminder that we should never forget the ones we have lost as we continue to strive to protect our nation.
