The left’s failed approach to criticizing Trump has been to drag Russia into the scenario. They’ve accused Trump of acting like Vladimir Putin and supposedly even getting help from the Russian leader to win the White House.
Predictably, liberals laid on the faux outrage after Trump expressed his views about America’s nuclear arsenal, horrified that Trump would reverse the disarmament policies of Obama. They called this “saber rattling” and warned that Putin wouldn’t like it one bit.
The United States must greatly strengthen and expand its nuclear capability until such time as the world comes to its senses regarding nukes

Wrong again, as Ben Kew reports for Breitbart:
Responding to questions about Trump’s nuclear policy at an international media conference in Moscow, Putin said that he was “a bit surprised by the statements from some representatives of the current U.S. administration who for some reason started to prove that the U.S. military was the most powerful in the world.”
Putin today appeared to reject the notion of a potential arms race with the United States, saying that “in the course of his election campaign Trump spoke about the necessity of strengthening the U.S. nuclear arsenal, and strengthening the armed forces. There’s nothing unusual here.”
Of course, we have no way of knowing what Putin really thinks about this issue. His remarks were clearly meant for public consumption. But clearly he did not have the response the left was expecting (or even hoping for). There was no specter of World War III or even another Cold War. America’s public opinion on defending itself with the strength of a nuclear arsenal is clear, and Putin should only expect America to do what is in its best interest. What Putin couldn’t respect was an Obama administration that was not committed to putting its own citizens and their safety first.
And it sure is getting tedious watching the left cry “wolf” every time Trump opens his mouth. Thankfully that’s about all they have left in their arsenal.
