President Obama may not be able to speak without his teleprompter, but at least one in the current batch of candidates on the campaign trail isn’t suffering from the same weakness.
Which candidate is it?
Well, it ain’t Hillary Clinton, that’s for sure.
While addressing the Economic Club of New York, Donald Trump was in the middle of highlighting his plan to loosen regulations on America’s business class and foster growth through the enticement of entrepreneurial endeavors – when his teleprompter gave out, the Independent Journal Review reported.
For almost three minutes, Trump was forced to fly solo on his speech. But did he panic? Hardly. After glancing for about a second at his notes, he powered through.
“I just wanted to say that it’s always a lot of fun when y0ou come up and the people don’t have the teleprompter working,” he said, IJR reported. “But that’s OK. Luckly I brought some notes. We’re looking at an economy now of no growth and redistribution of wealth. And that’s not going to work.”
He then vowed that all the problems created under President Obama were fixable, and “every failure can be turned into a truly great success.”
About then, his teleprompter started working again. And Trump took a few seconds to pat himself on the back, in a lighthearted manner.
“Without skipping a beat, Trump added: ‘Just look at the way I just melded into the teleprompter that just went on. Who else could have pulled that off, OK? Who else?'” he asked.
As IJR reported, most thought he was jabbing at Obama, who’s been left vulnerable and stumbling on more than one occasion, when his teleprompter’s gone out at various venues.
