We keep hearing about the #NeverTrump crowd (although not as much as we used to) so it’s refreshing to learn about a Beltway Republican expressing his support for the party’s nominee.
There was a time when that wouldn’t have been considered newsworthy, but these are not ordinary times, and in any case, this particular “endorsement” isn’t exactly wholehearted.
In a sign that the tide of momentum might be turning in Trump’s favor, one of his most vociferous GOP critics has softened his stance:
It turns out Rep. Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, is willing to put his “good name and reputation” behind Donald Trump after all.
The chairman of the House Oversight Committee said that he is voting for Donald Trump in a tweet Wednesday night after vowing not to vote for the Republican nominee in the wake of the Access Hollywood recording that surfaced earlier this month.
I will not defend or endorse @realDonaldTrump, but I am voting for him. HRC is that bad. HRC is bad for the USA.

This reluctant change of heart may signal that other anti-Donald Republicans are willing to hold their nose and vote for him after all.
As election day grows closer, that has the effect of clarifying what is really at stake this year. The prospect of a “President Hillary Clinton” is just too horrible to contemplate, even for many die-hard #NeverTrumpers.
