“I like Donald Trump because he speaks from the heart. ‘Make America Great Again’ is a great slogan. I would like to meet him.”
By now, lots of people have expressed similar sentiments, but the man who said it this time might shock you.
It sounds like a spoof, but over the weekend, the New York Post really did snare an exclusive interview with Malik Obama — the president’s half brother, who lives in a rural village in Kenya, Africa but is registered to vote in the U.S.
The two men used to be close; he was Obama’s best man when he married Michelle. However, a rift arose a few years ago and Malik’s enthusiasm for the Republican presidential nominee certainly won’t help patch things up.
The New York Post reports:
The last straw, he said, came earlier this month when FBI Director James Comey recommended not prosecuting Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton over her use of a private e-mail servers while secretary of state.
“She should have known better as the custodian of classified information,” said Obama.
He’s also annoyed that Clinton and President Obama killed Libyan leader Moammar Khadafy, whom he called one of his best friends.
It’s hard to say whether or not Trump and his fans will completely welcome Malik Obama’s endorsement. He has anywhere between three and 12 wives, and “made headlines in 2011 when he married his third wife, who was still in her teens.
Questions have also been raised about his stewardship of the Barack H. Obama Foundation, which he named after he and the president’s father and which didn’t have tax-exempt status from the IRS as he’d claimed (until, some say, Barack intervened.)
Malik Obama sees it differently. “My brother didn’t help me at all,” he told the Post. That’s another feeling he shares with millions of Americans.
