President Trump’s just announced much-needed reforms for welfare in America.
For years, individuals wanting to call themselves Americans have come in—legally—only to abuse their new privileges and the taxpayers who have worked so hard.
So Trump is making some big changes: any immigrants who come to our shores are going to be qualified, talented, and skilled, who will work to benefit our country.
One particular aspect of the plan will go a long way in ensuring that goal. And it makes liberals especially furious!
“Just this week, we announced a historic immigration bill to create a merit-based Green Card system that ends the abuse of our welfare system, stops chain migration, and protects our workers and our economy,” he said.
“As an example, you cannot get welfare for five years when you come into our country. You cannot just come in like in past weeks, years, and decades, you come in immediately and start picking up welfare. For five years, you have to say you will not be asking or using our welfare systems…”
While the media has lambasted the proposal to put a five-year ban on welfare, it would not be unique to the Trump administration. A similar five-year welfare ban has been in place since 1996. A Rasmussen poll released in June 2017 showed that 62 percent of voters polled support the five-year welfare ban for immigrants, while 26 percent oppose it.
It’s ludicrous to think that immigrants can enter the United States and immediately start collecting benefits. Those entitlement programs—while wasteful—are supposed to help Americans. Americans who have been paying into the system, but need a little help from time to time.
The idea that strangers can simply come here to collect welfare and other help is terrible.
It encourages low-lifes, sloths, and leeches to come to our country. It attracts bottom-feeders, not hard workers and go-getters.

We want to attract the best and the brightest to come to our country. We want people who will work hard to earn their keep and make America better. We don’t want people who will abuse our generosity.
This plan will help transform our immigration system, our economy, and how the world views the United States. It’s been needed for a long time.
