After ‘Sanctuary Cities’ Defy Trump, 5 States Strike Back—And HARD!
By Adam Casalino|April 17, 2017

The battle over illegal immigration continues to rage—but we’re starting to see a light at the end of the tunnel.

While many Americans suffer because of unchecked criminal alien activity, liberal cities and states foolishly seek to protect illegals. Despite the fact that many aliens commit violent crimes, are members of gangs and drug cartels, and bring drugs into the nation, democrats are hell bent on protecting them.

Those that do not commit violent crimes or are connected to gangs still pose a problem to our society. Illegal immigrants take jobs from American citizens, driving wages down. Meanwhile they put a burden on our health care system and government programs but do not pay into them with taxes.

The federal government is required by law to seek out criminal aliens, prosecute them, and deport them. Yet liberal cities and some states refuse to cooperate with law enforcement by handing over these criminals. They have become “sanctuaries” for these criminals; places were illegals can hide from justice.

If you are an American and you commit a crime, you have no recourse but to be apprehended. Yet in many parts of the United States, aliens can flee and be safe from federal law enforcement. How can that be right?

So it stands to reason that lawmakers are cracking down on this ridiculous practice and holding liberal leaders’ feet to the fire.

From The Hill:

Immigration hard-liners are threatening to hold potentially billions of dollars in state grants hostage as they seek to compel so-called sanctuary cities to cooperate with federal law enforcement officials.

Legislators in 33 states have introduced measures to limit or prevent cities from acting as sanctuaries for undocumented immigrants. Only one state this year, Mississippi, has enacted a ban on sanctuary jurisdictions, but several others, including Texas, Indiana, Iowa, Florida and Georgia, are advancing their own bills.

Sanctuary cities and counties often defy requests from federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials to hold undocumented immigrants so they can be picked up later for deportation. While there is no technical legal definition of a sanctuary city, many of the bills under consideration would require cities to swear under penalty of perjury that they comply with federal detainer requests.

Capitol Hill dances around the term, but liberal leaders in such places as San Francisco and Texas openly use the term “sanctuary cities” to illustrate what they do. They are openly defying the federal government–and the will of many of their citizens–in hiding illegals from justice.

Lawmakers that actually want to stem the tide of illegal immigration are seeking creative ways to punish leaders who refuse to cooperate with the federal government. The best way seems to be withholding federal grant money, which is vital to sustain local communities.

In Texas, Gov. Greg Abbott (R) has withheld millions of dollars in grants to Travis County, which includes Austin. State Sen. Charles Perry (R), who has sponsored one of the 23 bills dealing with sanctuary city legislation, said state grants make up a substantial portion of many city and county budgets, which means local officials pay attention when a state moves to block those funds.

Money talks and when liberal leaders defy federal requests, withholding money can mean the difference between having funds for schools and public services and not.

Will these sanctuary-loving liberals comply, even when the cash is gone? Maybe, but only reluctantly. Don’t be surprised to learn that even after new laws are passed to prevent sanctuary cities, these criminal alien-protecting democrats will find new ways to violate U.S. law and defend violent rapists, drug dealers, and gang members.

Only when they are voted out of office for good will we see an end to this travesty of justice.
