Although it happened four years ago, Americans are still waiting for the final verdict in the 2012 Benghazi attacks.
That terrible event took the lives of Americans living and working overseas, in what some called an entirely preventable attack.
News has circulated that President Obama and then Secretary of State Hillary Clinton had knowledge of the attacks early on.
They could have sent help to protect our people, but did nothing.
Since 2012 the House Select Committee has been investigating the attack, preparing a final verdict on what really happened.
Now it seems Committee Chair Rep. Trey Gowdy is ready to release their report, just in time for Convention season.
From Western Journal:
“We’re going to get the report out. It’ll be in the next month,” Gowdy told MSNBC’s Chuck Todd on Meet The Press Daily, adding that it would be published for certain before this summer’s political conventions.
The committee is investigating the 2012 attacks on the U.S. diplomatic compound in Benghazi, Libya, in which four Americans were killed. The report is expected to be an item in the presidential campaign because of the actions of Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, who was Secretary of State at the time of the attacks.
In a not so surprising move, Hillary Clinton’s people are attacking the committee. It’s certain that whatever information comes out in the report will not cast her in a favorable light. They claim they are releasing the documents now in an effort to dampen her campaign.
Sorry Hillary, there wouldn’t be anything to dampen had you acted responsibly four years ago.
But Gowdy asserts the timing has nothing to do with the election, claiming the report would have been released much earlier had other branches of the government cooperated.
“If we had had the cooperation of the State Department, the D.O.D., the C.I.A., you know, we could have gotten through this a lot quicker,” Rep. Lynn Westmoreland, R-Ga., said Wednesday. “But, you know, when you are waiting six, eight, 10 months on documents and they dump ’em 18, 20,000 at a time, it delays it.”
Many people are waiting for the results of the committee’s report, including the families of those who lost their lives. If anything is revealed that proves Clinton was culpable, it could in fact hurt her presidential bid. But to claim the committee is politically motivated in releasing the documents now is silly.
If that were so, they could just wait until November.
