The White House staff under the Obama administration only have a few more weeks to go before their jobs come to an end. Maybe that’s just as well, because they seem to be getting a little punchy and mixed up.
We’ve been assured for eight years that this administration is staffed by the smartest people ever. Well, you be the judge:
White House spokesman Josh Earnest got confused during his daily briefing today and mistakenly said “China” was behind the election-related hacking.
What I’ve tried to do is present object facts and I think the objective fact that’s relevant here is the intelligence community, a month before the election, came forward and presented a unanimous view, a high-confidence assessment, that China was engaged in malicious cyber activity to destabilize our political system,” Earnest said.
“You said China,” a reporter responded, “You meant…”
“I’m sorry, I meant Russia,” Earnest said, trying to hide a smirk. “
Maybe everybody over there just needs a nice long nap at this point.
Or maybe — some more conspiracy minded types might say — they’re having trouble keeping their stories straight…
