With Trump all but securing the GOP nomination, the news outlets have moved onto speculating who the candidate will pick for his cabinet.
We’ve discussed the shocking possibility that Ted Cruz could be his Attorney General, or perhaps a Supreme Court Justice.
Now there is news about a possible role for former mayor of New York, Rudy Giuliani.
The New York Daily News has released a leak that Trump is about to announce that he’ll make Giuliani his head of Homeland Security.
“A secret deal has been struck by Donald Trump, and Rudy Giuliani would be head of Homeland Security,” according to a GOP insider.
There’s no doubt that Trump could use a secretary of Homeland Security who can at least tell a skyscraper from a Slurpee machine. A couple of weeks ago, while campaigning in Buffalo, the bloviating billionaire recalled watching rescue workers “down at 7/11” after the World Trade Center was destroyed on Sept 11, 2001.
Giuliani has distinguished himself as a dogged fighter of terrorism.During the fallout of 9/11, he was on the scene, a constant figure in the rescue and recovery efforts.
A capable leader, with executive experience, Giuliani would offer years of insight as leader of the DHS. He would certainly be a tireless advocate for the eradication of ISIS.
“It’s my understanding that the two have talked directly (and) I know there have been serious talks on both sides,” we’re told. “I’m told it’s a done deal, but until it’s on paper, I don’t think anyone is counting on anything. Trump is already cutting deals as he moves to solidify his position in the party.” (New York Daily News)
Don’t be surprised if an official announcement is made soon. Trump has stated he wants his cabinet posts decided “before we go to Cleveland,” meaning the convention.
What do you think? Will Giuliani be a good fit as leader of Homeland Security?
Do you think he’d make a better fit in another role?
