Right after Donald Trump’s huge victory at the polls, the speculation began:
Who would he appoint to serve with him in the White House?
His supporters took to playing “Fantasy Cabinet,” wondering, for example, if Ted Cruz would be picked as Attorney General or perhaps appointed to the Supreme Court. (Personally, I’d like to see Captain Sully hired to pilot Air Force One…)
Well, now the names of some of those who passed the world’s most rigorous and important job interview are coming out. Not everyone is happy with all of Trump’s hires so far but his supporters probably won’t be disappointed with this one:
Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, the hard-charging former military man who made headlines when he gave an impassioned speech for President-elect Donald Trump at the Republican National Convention this summer, will be Trump’s national security adviser, The Hill reports.
“We are tired of Obama’s empty speeches and his misguided rhetoric,” Flynn told the audience, according to the Los Angeles Times. “This, this has caused the world to have no respect for America’s word, nor does it fear our might.”
Taking a swipe at liberal social issues, Flynn exclaimed that “war is not about bathrooms. War is not about political correctness or words that are meaningless. War is about winning.”
Liberals won’t like this appointment one bit. They’ve opposed other Trump selections because of their so-called “racism” or “anti-Semitism,” but this time, it’s Flynn’s military record and unapologetic patriotism that will get them riled up.
That’s a sign Trump made the right choice.
