Didn’t Joe Biden just say Republicans are “threats to democracy”? Haven’t most Democrats echoed that sentiment in a desperate attempt to save their 2022 chances?
I guess that means they upheld every tenet of our democratic tradition. Oh, wait… hang on. It looks like that can’t be true, because not a single California Democrat is willing to do this.
From Cal Matters:
As Election Day approaches, you’re likely to spot Gov. Gavin Newsom popping up in plenty of television ads. You’ll see state controller candidate Malia Cohen on her various social media feeds. Attorney General Rob Bonta will be busy attending plenty of press conferences.
But what are the odds that voters will catch any of these Democrats at a televised political debate? Don’t bet on it.
Newsom’s campaign reportedly turned Michaelson’s offer down. Bonta’s campaign met Hochman’s tweet with deafening silence. And after my colleague Sameea Kamal reached out to Cohen’s team, she got a very definitive thanks, but no thanks.
What did one of these Democrats say? “Cohen does not take orders from the Republican operatives who put Trump in power and have now placed their bets on Lanhee Chen.”
Really? What a joke!
Democrats claim to be upholding democracy, but they can’t even appear on stage to debate a Republican?
Don’t buy their excuse that Republicans who support Trump are “threats.” If they really thought these Republicans need to lose, they’d debate them before voters.
Prove these Republicans are “dangerous” by calling out their bad policies. Humiliate them for all the state to see.
Instead, these Democrats are cowardly running from a fair fight. They don’t want to debate these candidates, because they’ll fear they’ll lose.
These Republicans would rake Newsom and his allies over the coals. Who’s been in power as California plunges into socialism? Democrats.
Who sat back and let a homeless crisis rage out of control? Democrats.
Who is leaving the California/Mexico border open? Who held the majority as tens of thousands of residents flee the state?
Democrats. If Newsom and company actually manned up and debated Republicans, they’d be humiliated.
But they are making up stories to avoid being held accountable.
So much for democracy.
- California Democrats refuse to debate their Republican rivals.
- This comes after Democrats accused Republicans of being “threats to democracy.”
- It appears Democrats are trying to avoid being held accountable for CA’s many problems.
